"Would you tell me, please, which way I ought to go from here?" Alice asked the Cheshire Cat. 'That depends a good deal on where you want to get to," said the Cat. "I don't much care where. . ." said Alice. "Then it doesn't matter which way you go," said the Cat. - Lewis Carroll

You've inspired me - I've just ordered the Annotated Alice online. There's a book I need to read in greater depth.
You busy reading Alice in Wonderland, or is this a reference to the choices and destinies that lie ahead for you?
That's the dilemma isn't it? Because somehow it does matter...
Ant.. regret that the only Alice that I've been reading lately is the Disney version that I read Miss Wit at bedtime. But I have read it years ago - great read. So I was referring to the choices that lie ahead. Actually gleaned the quote from an academic ethics paper I was studying!
And val, yes it does matter - else it wouldn't keep me up at night.
As an aside I once (in days more reckless) used a quote from Alice as cellphone voicemail intro: Something like this: "The time has come, the Walrus said, to talk of many things; Of Shoes, of ships, of Sealing Wax; Of cabbages & kings: So whatever things you need to talk about leave them at the tone". I should put it back - it usually meant that the first 5 secs of voicemail messages left for me were stunned silence.
Man, that Cheshire Cat used to really freak me out. It's like he took acid or Ecstacy or something, or he's permanently stoned...but he knows something that we don't, doesn't he...Freaky.
Anything with the ability to appear & disappear at will, and then do so with a big grin on its face will quite clearly freak me out.
